Phil and Christine welcome you to Smart Road Cattery, the cattery where smart cats stay! The cattery is set on an attractive and peaceful 1 acre block 5 minutes from the New Plymouth suburb of Fitzroy, and is well situated for cat owners who are travelling north or south (please see our map).

Smart Road Cattery is Taranaki’s only AsureQuality cattery. We pride ourselves on our hygiene, cattery design with spacious cages, quality cat food, vaccination protocol and security, not to mention the personalised care and attention the cats holidaying with us receive. We're dedicated to ensuring your pet has the most comfortable stay possible, for long or short visits. There is no need to worry about your cat while you are away.

We encourage first time cats to come for a Familiarisation Visit. This is to familiarise your pet with our cattery environment before leaving them for a longer period. This helps relieve anxiety for pet and owner alike and from our experience on their second arrival they are happy to be left as they associate our cattery with a stress-free and safe place to be.

Smart Road Cattery offers semi communal style boarding. Nearly all cats (even those who defend their turf at home) are very happy to mix and mingle and get along well. Remember that it is not their territory and therefore they have nothing to argue about - cats in the wild live in prides and are therefore sociable by nature.

Cats are separately caged for feeding and sleeping at night. They can choose their daily routine and are free to come and go as they please. Cats are encouraged to use the enclosed outdoor play areas during the day, for sun lounging, play or watching country life go by!. We have created a pleasant and roomy atmosphere conducive to providing a stress free environment, where cats of all personalities will feel at ease. Cuddles, conversation and individual attention are crucial for their physical and emotional well being – all are provided at Smart Road Cattery.
